Rained ruined day 3 at Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour’s CCM Rahman Putra Championship at Kelab Golf Rahman Putra Malaysia in Sungei Buloh

Weather brings premature end to third round

The weather played havoc with the third round of the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour’s CCM Rahman Putra Championship at Kelab Golf Rahman Putra Malaysia in Sungei Buloh today.

With the second round completed earlier in eth day de to the premature end yesterday, the third round too could not be completed as scheduled and it left Shunya Takeyasu to assume the early lead in the RM200,000 event co-sanctioned with the Asian Development tour.

The Japan player was 14-under halfway through his third round that left him two shots ahead of Australian Jordan Sherratt.

American Josh Salah and Malaysia’s Hans Jamil kept in sight of the leaders and were 11-under after 10 holes.

First and second round leader Dodge Kemmer of the United States was another stroke back on 10-under.

Speaking after his exploits today, the 28-year-old Hans said: “I’ve been playing okay this week.

“I’ve hit a few of good shots and that has given me a bit of confidence. The course is in good condition, so that’s also nice.

“The only disappointing thing is the rain delays but that is something that everybody has to deal with, not only me. And I just need to keep focused,” he added.

That was the state of things at 3.48pm when play was halted due to the weather.

It means that 40 players will return to tomorrow to complete their third rounds before starting the fourth and final round shortly after.
