Josh Salah fired a polished six-under 66 in the fourth and final round of the Professional Golf of Malaysia ) PGM) Tour’s CCM Rahman Putra Championship to take the title by a single stroke today.

The American, who climbed up from overnight sixth place at Kelab Rahman Putra in Sungei Buloh, finished on 17-under-par 271 to clinch the top prize in the RM200,000 event that is co-sanctioned with the Asian Development Tour and carries world ranking points.

In a tournament that was interrupted on each of the first three days by bad weather and had the third round completed this morning, Japan’s Shunya Takeyasu was second after a closing 70 left him on 272.

Australian Jordan Sherratt carded a final round 71, which secured third place another two strokes back on 274, while Korean Soonsang Hong shot a 69 for fourth spot on 13-under 275.

Canadian Riley Fleming saw his 75 leave him in a tie for fifth alongside Thailand’s Pavit Tangkamolprasert (68) and American Dodge Kemmer (74), who led the event over the first two days.

Hans Jamil was Malaysia’s top-placed player. He finished in a three-way tie for 12th place on 10-under 278.

Twenty-four year-old said after his victory: “I had a slow start and bogeyed the 4th hole. But it did me good because I focused more after that.

“I battled a little bit last year but as the season went on I began to feel more comfortable. And for me to win here today is very satisfying.”

Hans, who was in the mix the whole week, said he was disappointed not to have finished higher up the leaderboard but happy that he showed some good form.

“Golf is like that,” he said. “Some days it goes your way and sometimes it does not. But overall I am happy with how I played and hopefully I can build on it.”
