Gavin will be here for Maybank Malaysian Open in February 2014

Malaysia’s top leading amateur Gavin Kyle Green today confirmed that he will be coming home for the upcoming Maybank Malaysian Open in February 2015. It will be Green’s fourth attempt at the coveted trophy and could possibly be his last time playing to an amateur status on the co-sanctioned European Tour and Asian Tour event.

“We’ll see how it goes,” when asked what will be his next step in his golfing career after graduating next year.

Last month, Green became the first collegiate golfer to pick up three consecutive William H Tucker titles, making this his 6th individual title with University of New Mexico (UNM), USA - the most ever recorded.

Green credits his exposure to the game at a professional level through the European and Asian Tour’s co-sanctioned Maybank Malaysian Open in years past for his achievements to date.

In 2013, Green topped Malaysian professionals to finish joint 22nd, his best finishing in three participations and the best by a Malaysian. To further enhance his skills for the 54th edition of the Maybank Malaysian Open, Green will be competing at three more tournaments before heading home.

“The Maybank Malaysian Open has given me plenty of opportunities to play alongside international stars and I have learned a lot from all the golfing greats. Participating in a world-class event like the Maybank Malaysian Open over the past few years has helped me better prepare myself for tournaments in my collegiate career. The experience, training and mental conditioning will be priceless in years to come as I aim to help the team get into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men’s National Golf Championships and hopefully win the championship this year. That would be awesome,” said Green.

Well done, PGM Tour schedule has been synchronized

PGM Tour schedule havs been synchronized with other major golfing events in Malaysia, so as to enable the PGM Pros to see the best in play in MALAYSIA. There is no better way to learn than by looking and absorbing how the best players in the world handle the course!

As we notice this coming weekend during CIMB PGA, there is no concurrent PGM event, thus lending an opportunity for PGM Card holders and others to witness and enjoy top golf at KLGCC, where the  world’s best are in action. This was not the case last year when PGM players were busy playing a PGM tournament, unable to enjoy the CIMB Classic. Well done PGM.

Malaysia - finally shows off - Well Done Malaysia!

LIM Eng Seng, winner of the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour title today when he beat Sukree Othman in a playoff at the Port Dickson Championship.
Lim shot a final round four-under 67 at Port Dickson Golf & Country Club to finish on eight-under 276, alongside Sukree, who carded a 69. And in the sudden-death playoff, Lim made sure of victory.
Lim's triumph came on the back of a come-from-behind performance that saw him start the day three strokes off the lead, held by Kenneth De Silva, who slipped into a tie for fifth after dismal fourth round one-over 72. The winner might not have had to go through the tense pressure of being forced into a playoff had he not surrendered a shot with a bogey at the 71st hole.
But in the end it did not matter that much for Lim as he duly secured a deserved win in the sudden-death shootout and also collected a cheque worth RM28,900.
For a while Mohd Azman Basharudin held the clubhouse lead after he moved to seven-under 277. That effort left him to settle for joint third place with Natthapong Niyomchon, as the Thai lad finished with a final round 69 and emerged the leading foreigner in the field.
Fellow Thai Pipatpong Naewsuk (70) joined De Silva in fifth place another stroke back on six-under 278.
Khor Kheng Hwai, also of Malaysia, blitzed the Port Dickson course with a brilliant seven-under 64 to finish tied for fifth on five-under-par 279, alongside Thaialnd's Tanatchan Puaktes (71) and Ratchapol Janyavara (72). They
were joint seventh.
